| | | | | Fantastic news for those of us worldwide who value ultramarathoning: the International Association of Athletic Federations (IAAF) has authorized the upgrade of the annual World Cup 100K to World Championship status. This is an historic step forward for the sport. Dirk Strumane of Belgium, president of the International Association of Ultrarunners, made the announcement on the organization's website (address below).
Put this in the "You-didn't-hear-it-from-me" category, but Timo says he believes this moves the 100-kilometer road race a little closer to becoming an Olympic event someday.
By the way, if you love ultramarathoning, you will want to check out IAU's website. It is easy to use, published mostly in English, and full of news about fasciniating races - past and future - all around the world. | | | | |
