| | | | | | Subject: | Mad City 100K and 50K - Saturday |
| | | | | Dear 100K and 50K solo runners,
Registration for the Mad City 100K races closed last night at midnight, and I am very pleased to report that you will be running among 30 runners in the 100K US national championship event, 26 runners in the competitive, non-championship 50K event, and over 40 50K relay teams. These are great numbers. Thank you very much for participating.
Remember how the race starts on Saturday morning. I'll start the 100K solo runners at 6:30 a.m., led by one or more bicyclists for at least the first loop (10 kilometers). At 6:30 a.m., the sun is not quite up, but it is light enough to see without flashlights.
At 8:00 a.m. I'll start the 50K solo runners and all the relay teams, also to be led by bicycle.
You'll all be out there together then. The course closes (and the race ends) at 7:30 p.m.
Packet pickup at the Vilas Park shelter is available on Friday (tomorrow) from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. If necessary, you can come to the shelter on Saturday morning, but I encourage you to come Friday just to spread out the "crowd" a little bit. Also, I will hold a pre-race briefing at 6:00 p.m. Friday (tomorrow) where our USATF rep Lin Gentling and I will talk about the rules of competition, the aid station rules, the course, and so on, and be available to answer any of your questions.
Safe travels, and I'll see you all soon.Timo.
